Ex-Bucs TE Joseph Fauria Reveals Gronkowski Faked Retirement to Stay With Brady and Patriots, Dismisses Trade Rumors to Lions

Former Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end, Joseph Fauria, has been sharing the details of a conversation he had with Rob Gronkowski. The pair spoke about Gronkowski’s retirement from the NFL, which he initially announced in 2019 after nine seasons with the New England Patriots. Fauria revealed that Gronkowski’s decision to retire was largely motivated by his desire to continue playing with Tom Brady. Gronkowski missed the 2019 season but came out of retirement the following year to reunite with Brady in Tampa Bay, where they went on to win Super Bowl LV. Despite rumors that Gronkowski was traded to the Lions, Fauria confirmed that this was not the case and that Gronkowski simply faked his retirement in order to stay with Brady and the Patriots.
